The Walking Dead & U2

AMC released two new trailers for The Walking Dead with "The Troubles" by U2 featuring Lykke Li off their new album Songs of Innocence as the soundtrack to both.

It helps build up the tension nicely, with the haunting song a perfect fit for the vibe of togetherness we get from our survivors as they face their toughest task yet. The trailers don't offer up too much in the way of plot, but some great footage is spliced together giving it a theatrical feel for a show that thrives on details. The Walking Dead season 5 premieres Sunday October 12 while the deluxe non-free version of Songs of Innocence hits stores October 14.

'The Walking Dead' Season 4 Ends on a High Note

The Walking Dead had seemed to get a bit of a lukewarm response from some in recent episodes. Any doubts should have all went out the window with the Season 4 finale. The episode was a thrilling nail biter throughout, and ended with the return of bad-ass Rick (Andrew Lincoln) after the group gets locked in a old train car by those at the Terminus. Good news though...no main character died! I'm glad they flipped the switch, as it seems before each season or mid-season finale people wonder who will die, since they've pretty much killed someone each time.

We still don't know much about the Terminus yet, except that they almost make the Governor (David Morrissey) look nice in comparison. The people look very robotic. The creepy room of candles seemed to suggest they no longer trust outsiders, so something obviously happened before. People will also be wondering why they wouldn't just kill Rick & Company, instead shooting at their feet. Maybe they're a cult of cannibals? Hence why they lure people towards the Terminus and then trap people instead of killing them. The new slogan should be "Those who arrive survive...until they become next week's dinner." The whole idea of Terminus furthers the message of the show that we've come to expect, which is you need to fear the living as much as the zombies.

Many questions have been answered recently, such as how Michonne's (Danai Gurira) son died and why Rick became a farmer at the prison. The finale left more questions to be answered in regards to the Terminus, setting us up nicely for Season 5. Also...where the fuckity fuck is Beth (Emily Kinney)?! When she was kidnapped in that car, maybe it was someone from Terminus? I assume we'll find that out come October, as well as what will happen to Carol (Melissa McBride) & Tyreese (Chad Coleman) as they make their way towards Terminus.

Marilyn Manson on 'Talking Dead'

You know something is up when one of the highest rated shows, 'The Walking Dead' on AMC, airs a new episode but all people can talk about is the episode of 'Talking Dead' that airs after it. Marilyn Manson was one of the guests...and he kept going off on a perplexing tangent throughout the program. It's just something you have to see to believe.

At one point he was trying to relate women burning their bras in the 1970s to Carol (Melissa McBride) burning the two bodies of the diseased characters at the prison. Okay then! He also said it may have been caused by Activia since she looks like Jamie Lee Curtis. Chris Hardwick was just as surprised as the rest of us and handled it in the best way possible with his sarcasm. His facial expressions were a thing of beauty as well. At one point he had to say, "You can't get zombies pregnant, Marilyn Manson." Jack Osbourne was on the panel as well. He tweeted, "Yep. I know how you all feel."

Manson must have been on a steady diet of NyQuil, Molly, and a side of Go-Go Juice before appearing on camera. At first his mic wasn't working, which as the show went on it made clear that this was probably no coincidence. I came away thinking that Marilyn Manson secretly worked as Mitt Romney's head speech writer last year. Oh, and 'The Walking Dead' kicked ass tonight as usual, particularly when Michonne (Dania Gurira), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Tyreese (Chad Coleman) & Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) take a Dodge Charger into a horde.

'The Walking Dead' Ratings Kill Everything Else on TV

Another season premiere, another record shattered by 'The Walking Dead'. 16.1 Million people tuned into the season 4 premiere of 'The Walking Dead' on AMC, becoming the highest rated show of the season. The previous record for the series was 12.4 Million. The Cable show is getting live ratings that the Broadcast networks could only dream of right now. It also seems like the walkers took a chunk out of the ratings for all the broadcast network shows, which were all down across the board in competition. 'The Walking Dead' is an event now, people want to watch it live so they can talk about it afterwards rather than DVR it and possibly get spoiled.

Another big milestone is that the show received 10.4 Million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, which makes it the most watched program of the season in that advertising coveted group, surpassing every NFL game. Before last night, all the highest rated programs among 18-49 year olds were all NFL games. The pigskin is no match for flesh eating zombies.

The new season is off to a solid start as well with a good first episode. Some clear storylines forming with Rick (Andrew Grimes) now taking on a role as farmer & having a new hatred of violence. Michonne (Danai Gurira) is leaving the prison for extended periods in search of the Governor (David Morrissey) to get her revenge on him for the death of Andrea (Laurie Holden). Glenn (Steven Yeun) & Maggie (Lauren Cohan) have a wedding to look forward to...and we have to wonder if it will be as insane as the Red Wedding on 'Game of Thrones'.

Carol (Melissa McBride) is teaching story-time to the children...with a fun twist of knife lessons to defend against walkers. Story-time during the zombie apocalypse is badass. Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) & Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman) have acclimated well and are important members of the prison. Daryl (Norman Reedus) is still the Daryl we love. The survivors finally found a Big Lots! superstore after 4 years...and just their luck the roof caves in with zombies raining down. Dear superstores: please build stronger roofs.

'The Walking Dead' Season 4 Trailer!

Season 4
Well this is a nice way to start the weekend, with everyone's favorite neighborhood Zombies! The official trailer for Season 4 of AMC's 'The Walking Dead' premiered at Comic-Con, and is now online. Watch it below.

Good news: the survivos have finally found a giant retail store a la Wal-Mart. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) seems to have stopped seeing visions of Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) in a flowing white dress. Michonne (Danai Gurira) has a horse. Bad news: The prison becomes overrun with walkers at some point.

'The Walking Dead' returns on Sunday, October 13th at 9pm. Besides this insanely long never ending heat wave, we now have yet another reason to want Fall to arrive ASAP!

Quickie 'Mad Men' Recap

Tonight's episode of Mad Men ("Favors") went heavy on the Vietnam War theme in an interesting way. However, there were two big moments that must be discussed which overshadowed that.

1. Bob Benson (James Wolk) made his presence known again, as per usual, and this tonight we see him hit on...Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser)! He did it in his normally slick way after entering Pete's office. Bob Benson just walking into the office made me jump up. I'm starting to think him entering the room excites me a bit too much. So Bob is gay, and little does Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks) know, he just wants to be her best friend, not her boyfriend. Or was he just concocting a sneaky plan to mess with Pete? Keep enchanting us, Mr. Benson. And bring back the famous short-shorts.

2. Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka) also had a stand out episode, and is now officially the female version of Bob Benson in terms of entering a room like a boss. After getting the doorman's keys to go up and retrieve a letter her friend left for Sylvia Rosen's (Linda Cardellini) son. When she walks in, what does she see after hearing a feint moan in an open doorway? It's her trusty father Don Draper (Jon Hamm) banging Sylvia on the bed! She drops the keys, screams, they freak out, she runs. Later on he tries to explain to Sally that he was just "comforting Sylvia". I'm pretty sure a teenager knows what comforting is really supposed to look like Don. I'm now even more convinced Sally is going to head up to Woodstock 1969 next season, dance naked in the mud, and drop some of the brown acid. Let's just hope she doesn't run into Don banging some hippie in a van.

Another funny moment in the episode happened when Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) has a rat in her apartment, which get in the trap but stays alive tracking blood on the floor. Our beloved Peggy had some fun lighthearted scenes this episode, which we love.

By the way, Linda Cardellini is bringing it. Hint hint, Emmy voters. There are just two (!) episodes left this season. Dear AMC, can't we get more than 13 episodes for the final season next year?

'Mad Men' Season 6 Premiere

AMC
The Two-Hour Season 6 premiere of AMC's Mad Men, 'The Doorway', has come and gone, bringing us to Christmas 1967 & New Year's Eve, leaving us in January 1968. The tumultuous year will be the focus this season, no doubt creating quite the backdrop for what should be an explosive season. Here are some musings:

1 . Sally Draper (Kieran Shipka) had the line of the night, "She acts like she's 25 because she uses tampons."  Teenage Sally is just as fun as pre-teen brat Sally. And I'm now fully convinced she'll be on her way to Woodstock next season.

2. Sideburns have exploded since the Summer of '67. Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) wins the award for the best ones. We're also seeing more and more moustaches & beards. Just wait until The Beatles' "White Album" comes out!

3. Nobody turns their Christmas trees off no matter how late at night it is. And this was way before LED lights, so they must have great smoke detectors. But they look nice, so I don't mind.

4. January Jones still has a fat suit, though its slightly smaller. So I guess "Fat Betty" is still around! By the end of the episode she dyes her hair black after a visit to some sketchy community apartment in an increasingly dangerous Manhattan. She's there looking for Sally's runaway friend, and gets an earful from a homeless guy about her bottled up existence in Rye, NY. So basically this is her version of turning goth. "Fat Betty" is now "Goth Betty". Earlier in the episode she gave us some seriously psycho humor, teasing Henry (Christopher Stanley) that if he wanted Sally's 15-year-old friend, she would hold her down for him. Maybe the new "Goth Betty" will stop being jealous of teenage girls?

5. Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) is basically the Don Draper (Jon Hamm) of her new office. Quite the workaholic, she expertly solves a crisis for their upcoming Super Bowl ad. Yet she is also a hard ass, making people work on New Year's Eve.

6. Roger Sterling (John Slattery) can't shed a tear when his 91-year-old mother dies, but balls like a baby when his shoeshine-guy dies. Don't ever change, Roger.

7. Megan (Jessica Pare) is now a soap opera star, and Don is now obsessed with death and finds heaven morbid. Megan has gotten him into smoking marijuana, but he is still the opposite of Roger, who took LSD and became more of a free spirit with it. Oh, and the question from the end of last season has been answered. Don has begun to cheat on her, and with the wife of his new doctor friend. She is Sylvia Rosen, and is played by Linda Cardellini, who you know from "ER", "Freaks & Geeks" and "Grandma's Boy". Between this and in Season 3 when he slept with Sally's teacher, he sure likes to pick dangerous ones. We do see regret though, which we didn't see when he cheated on Betty. Baby steps. He is clearly in a crappy state right now though.

8. Alex Mack (Larisa Oleynik) and Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) were not in this episode. I can't remember their characters' names so we'll go with those. And its more fun that way.

9. We didn't see much of Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks) apart from when they had to take portraits. Fear not though, now that she is a partner our favorite wisecracking redhead will be featured more soon.

10. Vietnam is starting to become heavily referenced, as it should now that they've entered 1968.

'Mad Men' Season 6

The sixth and penultimate season of Mad Men begins this Sunday, April 7th, a week after the season finale of The Walking Dead. Yes, AMC gets to follow up one hit show with another. Good decision to have it begin a week after The Walking Dead, and a sincere thank you to AMC because it will help hold us over until our favorite zombies/walkers return in the fall.

One of the big questions is always "what time-frame will Mad Men pick up in?" Season 5 ended in 1967, and we famously got a dose of an actual Beatles song, "Tomorrow Never Knows" from their 1966 album Revolver. In a video interview with Jon Hamm posted on the Rolling Stone website, Hamm explains he prefers The Rolling Stones to The Beatles. Mad Men also featured The Rolling Stones' "I Can't Get No (Satisfaction)" in Season 4. Maybe this time we'll get a song from both bands at the same time? Other musicians who could start to be played in episodes are Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, and Aretha Franklin.
Christina Hendricks as Joan Harris
AMC also just released 10 photos from Sunday's two-hour premiere, and some of the photos feature Christmas decorations and a tree, so we can assume Season 6 picks up in November/December 1967. Most of the season will take place in 1968 that means, and should be heavily influenced by the civil rights movement and the escalating protests of the Vietnam War.

The seventh and final season should take us into 1969, with the moon landing and Woodstock. I'm looking for an episode called "Sally Goes to Woodstock". Just hopes she stays away from the brown acid. I was hoping that we'd get a few seasons that take place in the 1970s, for some leisure suit and bell-bottom fun, but it looks like that may not happen. Unless the end of Season 7 takes us there.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Finale

Another season of The Walking Dead is in the books. Season 3 went out with a bang, though it was not quite as good as the season 2 finale which gave us a Michonne (Danai Gurira) tease when she rescued Andrea (Laurie Holden) in the forest and the beginning of the "Ricktatorship".

A week after the emotional death of Merle (Michael Rooker), we have another sad goodbye of an original character with the death of Andrea. It was played out well and had a very powerful build. Even though I don't like her death, I understand her story came full circle, and ever since the death of her sister in season 1 she hated seeing others meet a similar fate. She tried to save everyone at the prison & Woodbury, including The Governor (David Morrissey), but it didn't work out. Seeing Milton (Dallas Roberts) stand up to The Governor before being stabbed and left locked with Andrea to turn also brought his story to a close.

It was pretty well done, aside from making Andrea take FOREVER to pick the pliers up with her toes. It should have taken a few seconds, maybe one minute. The main reason I hated seeing Andrea die is because it feels like too many of the original cast has been killed off. We're down to Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carol (Melissa McBride), Daryl (Norman Reedus), Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Carl (Chandler Riggs). Of course it keeps you on your toes, but I hope it doesn't come to a point where its overkill. After watching Merle and Andrea die in back to back weeks, we've now lost well over half of the original cast members. Dale, Andrea, Shane, Sophia, Merle, Lori, & T-Dog have all died since the middle of Season 2. Though I'm sure we will see Andrea some more through Michonne flashbacks.

We saw Carl basically turning into Shane II. That will clearly become a storyline, as Rick will attempt to handle Carl becoming affected by the awful world around them. The Governor escaped, which leaves him at large and sure to pop up again. I guess we'll find out this summer when the show begins filming again if he'll be back in Season 4, or sometime after. Talking Dead also got prank called by some creep who breathed heavy then said something about the end coming and the graves being full, which was odd yet funny.

The 4th season of The Walking Dead on AMC begins in October. To help hold us over, Mad Men returns next week!

The Walking Dead: Andrea Chooses a Side

The Walking Dead ramped up the intensity in the episode titled "Prey", with a #PreyForAndrea hashtag being hyped up on The Walking Dead twitter. We found out why in a big way.

The episode was mainly about Andrea (Laurie Holden) and The Governor (David Morrissey). Andrea, by the way, returned to the Season Two badass Andrea finally. She also finally chose a side, opting to return to the prison once she'd seen what The Governor was planning to do with Michonne (Danai Gurira) in his dungeon. Milton (Dallas Roberts) shows it to her, and has seemingly lost his trust of The Governor as well. Its assumed he burned the walkers they were planning to unleash on the prison.

Back to the Andrea/Governor scene though, which filled most of the episode. The game of cat and mouse was absolutely perfect, and created what was perhaps the most intense, edge-of-your-seat episode of the entire series. The Governor turned into the full-on evil Governor they'd been building up to as he made his way through the warehouse searching for Andrea. He even pulled a little Freddy Kruger move, taunting her with whistles as he dragged hit metal shovel against the fences. I like that both characters were able to use the resources to get a leg up on the other. When Andrea found the stairway full of zombies, then entered and hid behind the open door as the zombies streamed out towards the Governor was one of the most exciting scenes they've had.

Then when she finally arrived at the prison, about to wave for Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) attention, he grabs her from behind and ends up taking her away. Just seconds from a happy reunion, she ends up in the worst possible spot. You have to wonder why she didn't just take his truck back at the warehouse, but then I guess that messes with the plot.

In a preview for next week on Talking Dead, we saw Merle (Michael Rooker) actually trying to convince Rick not to give up Michonne, knowing how The Governor operates and that it wouldn't make a difference. The two factions will have their war, and The Governor may use Andrea as bait to separate Michonne from the rest of the group. Or will Milton save Andrea and then die for doing so? With just two episodes left this season, the intensity is sure to continue at the high level of "Prey". Fear not though, as The Walking Dead ends, Mad Men returns a week later. Two very different shows, yet both fit well together because of the excellent storytelling and passionate cast & crew.

'The Walking Dead' Slays the Competition

Did you think The Walking Dead couldn't get any bigger? Think again. The hit AMC show took Michonne's katana sword to the rest of the competition on Sunday Night, as the return from winter hiatus drew a record 12.3 Million Viewers, with a 6.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic, the largest the series has ever seen in both categories.

That means The Walking Dead destroyed American Idol in adults 18-49, and nearly topped it in total viewers period. Not to mention the fact that The Walking Dead had to go up against some stiff competition in the 2013 Grammy Awards, or it could have been even larger. Michael Rooker, who plays fan favorite Merle, commented on twitter: Gmorning all y'all FANS around the World a big SHIT YES!!! Thank you!!! For ur Support...

The show is changing the face of television, as cable networks can now dream of beating out broadcast networks in the ratings game. This all comes after The Walking Dead became the first cable show in history to become the Fall's most watched show with 18-49 year olds. Zombies may be hot right now, but this show  has been able to be much more than that, creating characters that people care about, which the broadcast networks are dreaming they can do.

I have to say, it was probably my least favorite episode (titled "The Suicide King") so far this season, but it did a good job setting up the rest of the season, so it was needed. Especially after the intensity of the previous episode, "Made to Suffer", this one was a bit more mellow. Now just because it was my least favorite of the season doesn't mean much, as it was still incredibly entertaining. If you need a little Walking Dead style action in the middle of the week, give The Americans on FX a chance. It's yet another exciting cable show to add to the growing collection of them.

Tips For Winter Storm Nemo

Winter Storm Nemo is approaching the Northeast with a ton of snow ready to be dumped, then some strong wind to blow it all around for good measure to mess up your car or sidewalk should you try and clean them halfway through the storm.

Here are some tips for staying busy during the storm before eventually heading out for some winter snow fun.

1 - Watch Finding Nemo. This one is a no-brainer. Remember just how much you love Nemo when you feel like cursing the name that locked you in the house on a Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) will help provide some comic relief to your night. And don't forget that they are making a Finding Nemo 2! Maybe they should name more storms after our favorite Pixar characters? Certainly makes them seem less intimidating. Plus, we should all understand where Nemo is coming from. I would be incredibly pissed if Pixar made Cars 2 before Finding Nemo 2 also.

2 - AMC will be airing a marathon of The Walking Dead seasons 2 and 3 this weekend leading up to the return of the show on Sunday night. What better way to spend stuck inside than with our favorite zombies and zombie killers? Seeing Michonne (Danai Gurira) slice of some zombie heads with her sword and giving The Governor (David Morrissey) an eye full of glass is a nice way to spend an afternoon.

3 - Break out the Super Nintendo, Sega Dreamcast, N64 or any video game console from the 90s. Was there anything better than playing "Mario Party" or "Sonic" during a Snow Day? Or the classic 90s Disney games?

4 - Dust off those Frosty the Snowman DVD's and remember just how much you love the snow. Okay maybe not Blizzard level snow...but when its all said and done it will make for some great sledding, football, igloo and snowman building.

5 - HOT COCOA!

12-12-12 Concert TONIGHT

People all over the world can watch the 121212 Concert tonight starting at 7:30pm ET. There are already plenty of rumors about some of the surprises in store for the concert, which will help raise money for the Robin Hood Foundation for Hurricane Sandy relief. A ton of channels will be showing it, such as AMC, Fuse, and HBO. Check the website for more.

One such rumor that has been virtually confirmed is that Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic will be reuniting as Nirvana, with Paul McCartney taking over Kurt Cobain's vocals! A fusion of the biggest musical act of the 1960s & all time, The Beatles, with the biggest band of the 1990s, Nirvana. Apparently they will be performing a new song.

Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam will also be singing Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb" with original Pink Floyd member Roger Waters.

With The Rolling Stones performing, one can also wonder who might join them onstage to take the female vocals if they perform "Gimme Shelter"? Lady Gaga is doing it at their concert on Saturday, so might she show up? Or Mary J Blige, who performed it with them in London?

The Walking Dead: Killer Within

Oh. Shit. Its safe to say when fans of The Walking Dead on AMC sat down to watch tonights episode "Killer Within," they didn't expect two main characters to be killed off. Its just the fourth episode, but once again, they show that nobody is safe on The Walking Dead.

We lost both Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) and T-Dog (Robert "IronE" Singleton) in tonight's wild episode. Everything went to hell when the fences went down and zombies infiltrated the prison. T-Dog was bitten, then knowing he would die anyway, charged some zombies to help Carol (Melissa McBride) escape. Speaking of Carol, we aren't sure yet if she survived after escaping the hallway they were in. Lori died when she was separated with Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Carl (Chandler Riggs), and went into labor. Maggie had to cut the baby out to save it, and Lori died in the process, with Carl having to finish her off so she wouldn't become a zombie.

It was a surprisingly intense & emotional episode so soon into the third season, but once again showed that they won't hold back with the show. They will adapt characters' fates from comics to TV even if they have to kill off a fan favorite or main character, even if they don't exactly follow the comics completely, which they don't. The addition of new characters like Michonne (Danai Gurira) and The Governor (David Morrissey) helps them easily transition.

This is the reason it is one of the best shows on TV, and the highest rated show in cable history. The ratings for this seasons premiere became the highest rated premiere in the 18-49 demographic of any show on TV, the first time a cable show has achieved that. And this wild ride of unbelievable episodes is going to continue, as stated on their official twitter page: "That was only episode 4. We have four more to go before we can pick our jaws up off the floor."

Watch The Walking Dead Season 3 Trailer!

The theatrical new trailer for The Walking Dead (watch below) has been released online following the debut at comic-con. Everyone is in action in the new trailer, and you get to see how The Governor (David Morrissey) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) will fit into the epic 3rd season. And epic is the perfect word, as this promises to be full of action with even better storytelling to go with it. There's also the first glimpse at the returning Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) as well as the prison and the survivor community, Woodbury.

Andrea (Laurie Holden) & Michonne are going to make one kick-ass team. We can see Michonne does not trust The Governor from the start. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is in full on "take no bullshit" mode, and you know once the gang joins back up with Andrea and new pal Michonne, they may go to war with The Governor. And both groups will be attacked by countless walkers (zombies). The 3rd season will premiere Sunday October 14 at 9ET on AMC. The show may be more anticipated than any show on TV, including network TV, and should beat the cable record 9 million viewers it received for the season 2 finale.

The Walking Dead Season 3 Preview

Attention all fans of The Walking Dead, AMC is currently airing every episode of the series all weekend long. Don't forget to tune into a brand new episode of Talking Dead with host Chris Hardwick on Sunday July 8 at 9pm ET. It will offer a glimpse of Season 3, complete with cast interviews and a set visit. There will presumably be an exclusive scene shown as well.

AMC debuted a new poster featuring Rick (Andrew Lincoln), plus newbies Michonne (Danai Gurira) and The Governor (David Morrissey). Between this and the current non-stop heatwave, I can't wait for fall to begin.

Entertainment Weekly also premiered some new set photos of the cast at the prison, the main setting for the season. One is below, showing Maggie starting to kick some ass, looking like Milla Jovovich from the Resident Evil film series.

Mad Men Gets The Beatles

AMC's hit show Mad Men finally got an actual Beatles song on last nights episode "Lady Lazarus". At the end of the episode, Don's (Jon Hamm) younger wife Megan (Jessica Pare) gives him the latest Beatles album, "Revolver" (the show is currently in late 1966). She tells him to play the outstanding psychedelic track, "Tomorrow Never Knows." The song kicks in and we hear the rare sound of an actual Beatles song on a TV show. You can listen to it below.

The reason it's so rare is because the songs are expensive to license, and they are also picky about it in general. When the film Dinner For Schmucks got the right to play the song "Fool on the Hill" in the movie, Paramount/Dreamworks paid $1.5 Million. (Yoko Ono & Paul McCartney also saw the movie first and enjoyed it.) For Mad Men, Lionsgate reportedly paid $250,000 to feature the song. Its not just the money though, because many have tried to get songs and have been turned down. They have to like the script & context of the song before signing off on it. Paul & Ringo are fans of the show, which helped. I believe this is the first time a Beatles song has been featured in a TV show, at least recently. A few movies have had Beatles songs in them though: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Social Network, Bowling For Columbine, & Nowhere Boy. Plus their own movies of course.

The cost is referenced in the episode itself as a joke. Early in the episode the characters are pitching an ad campaign with their concept playing off the Beatles film, "A Hard Day's Night." Their task is to find a song that sounds similar, since it is too difficult and expensive to get an actual Beatles song for an ad campaign. Its a little wink and nudge at the audience that AMC spent the big bucks to finally get a Beatles song in an episode. And it worked out perfectly, because the track fit in so well with the story and the time frame they are in right now. Don doesn't understand why music has become so important, because he grew up in the 1930s/1940s when it wasn't. There were no larger than life musicians. Halfway through listening to "Tomorrow Never Knows", after seeing clips of Peggy (Elisabeth Moss) smoking a joint while working and Megan laying down at her acting class with her mind "turned off, floating upstream", Don turns the song off and walks away. The generational differences are surfacing as Mad Men moves through the psychedelic era of the 1960s. Don is out of touch and can't understand the Beatles or the younger generation, yet he married into it. Pretty sure this marriage will end up on the rocks. What are the odds Megan becomes a member of the "flower power" movement?

And if you haven't listened to The Beatles masterpiece Revolver by now, go out and get it. Remember to "lay down all thought, surrender to the void" (unlike Don).

The Walking Dead Season 2 Finale

Michonne in the comics
Is it Fall yet?

Season 2 of AMC's The Walking Dead ended with a bang, filled with tons of gore, zombies and fire. However, the best parts were the setups for Season 3. We see Rick (Andrew Lincoln) reach his final straw, putting his foot down and becoming a total badass who won't take any shit. Andrea (Laurie Holden), who got separated from the group, makes her way through the woods kicking zombie ass. But out of breath and pinned by a zombie, we see a mysterious sword-wielding & hooded woman save her by slicing said zombies head off. Not only that, but she does it with two arm-less zombies chained behind her. Looks like Andrea might have a new friend to kick some ass with, now that Shane (Jon Bernthal) is gone.

Danai Gurira
This mysterious woman is the heroine character Michonne from the comics. Fans have been waiting for her to appear, and she will play a huge role in Season 3. Michonne will be played by actress Danai Gurira, who was also in HBO's Treme. The character is like a cross between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Milla Jovovich's Alice from the Resident Evil films, but with no superpowers of course. She becomes an ally to the group in the comics in order to take down "The Governor", who will also be in Season 3. We will find out this fall how its all handled on screen. The reason for the two chained zombies she walks with is because the smell keeps the others away, as we learned in Season 1. And she cut off their teeth in addition to their arms. Genius! Michonne is the ultimate survivor.

The end of the episode also pans out and shows a massive and highly protected prison near where our favorite survivors are stopped, which will also play a role.

Season 3 will premiere in the Fall and most likely will debut to more record breaking viewership. The Walking Dead has quickly become the most watched show on cable television. Take that Jersey Shore. Now we must wait until fall...summer is overrated anyway.
